Anyone asking about commuting mileage to and from work is generally NOT tax deductable.

Sorry for all those who are asking about long commutes.

I am looking at employment in Vt. I live in NY. It would be 84 miles round trip. This would be my primary place of employment. Would the milage to and from work be tax deductible? On top of mileage, Id also be looking at a $14 round trip ferry fee. Is that also tax deductible?

A charity will pay me 25 cents per mile....would I be better to go the 14 cent per mile to deduct for charity?

The best way to get mileage reimbursement is to have a GPS that automatically logs your miles.

Can I deduct mileage to and from work if I am self employed?

I've read all the above comments, but does any one receive an answer? All I want to know is how much my husband can deduct per mile while he commuted to trade school. Also, Kellogg-gov't hasn't been balanced since Clinton. Obama isn't the cause of this depression, you best research your presidences/parties. I vote strictly for the candidate whom best suites my concerns/best interest in our country. I do not give a flying leap what party denomination a candidate is running for. Educate yourself!

Just because Wade likes getting bent over doesn't mean the rest of us do.

Wade, you give it a break you idiot.

Jasonrbow 12 months ago

What sort of paperwork do I need to keep record of this? A personal log? Gas receipts?

teresa 12 months ago

ya the medical mileage i have never claimed ihave over 4k mile but it might not be worth claiming seems I would of had a better chance at 24c and that was close to $600 if not more i had to pay in gas

Kellogg, give it a break you idiot.

Kellogg, R.L. 13 months ago

Thanks for reducing my mileage deduction from 24 cents a

mile to 16.5. That helps a lot when we're paying $3.00 plus for gas.

I guess Obama needs the money so he can trip off to Hawai'i

I work for home health care and wonder what the amount is per mile for me, I know I do not get paid for going to the office or coming home.

I am a volunteer driver for my local county's aging and disability dept. I am reimbursed .50 a mile. The county is now saying they will send a W9 statement at the end of the year for tax purposes on any payments over 600.00 dollars. Is this correct?

I volunteer twice a week delivering Meals on Wheels for the Hospital. What is the mileage rate for this service

David 18 months ago

Bonnie... Can I come work for you? I'm comfortable just absorbing miles driven at that hourly rate.

Bonnie 19 months ago

Can I give an estimated expense allowence for travel for business use to employees where it is unreasonable to make them track everywhere they drive. (such as people who make $200-$400 per hour and might spend 20 minuets time per day tracking places traveled.

jminnick 23 months ago

If I leave from home going directly to a customer and then to the office (100 miles) what can I put on my expenses

the 100 miles or the 100 miles less what I would have traveled on a normal day to and from work?

I'm in outside sales and have to use my car. I averaged

20,000 miles in 2009 and my employer pays for fuel only.

Do I still get a deduction as I pay all other costs out of my pocket (Insurance, wear on vehicle...)?

J.Reaves 2 years ago

If I get paid .40 a mile at my work for mileage, am I able to claim the remaining .10 a mile on taxes? Also I am only able to put down roundtrip -35 miles. Would I be able to claim those 35 miles a day for the whole .50 per mile?
