If you did not qualify for the stimulus check payment in 2008, it may not be too late. If you are now eligible and meet certain guidelines then you may receive a stimulus check payment for 2009.
To qualify you must meet certain criteria:

$3,000.00 in income which can include social security and veterans affairs benefits.

A valid social security number.

You are not a dependent of someone else’s.
The amounts will vary depending on your family size and how you file. If you file single then you may get between $300.00 - $600.00. If you are filing jointly then you can get between $600.00 - $1,200.00. There is an additional payment of $300.00 for each qualifying child.
These amounts will decrease as income levels increase. If your income for 2008 exceeded $75,000 then your check will be decreased by 5% of your income that exceeded the income limits.
To claim this payment on your 2008 return you will need to use form 1040A. You must fill out this form even if you normally do not file a return. This form is very simple and only asks for the minimum amount of information for you to file for a stimulus payment.
An online tax calculator can help you determine if you are eligible and how much you will receive. There are many online tax preparation services such as TurboTax online that offer these free tax calculators. When you receive your payment you will also receive a letter that outlines the amount of your stimulus check and the reasons if any that the amount was decreased.

i have searched the web over and over and i keep getting articles or people talking in circles. my questions are.....are we, the taxpayers getting a stimulus package still....and does anyone know when we are to expect it. the economy is so bad that my place of employment gave me a week and two days notice of it going out of business. now my husband is already back to work and he just had back surgery. we could really use the help no matter what the amount. please respond only if you know...thanks.

I really think it is sad for everyone to bitch about something that is being given to them. I really need that money and i don't care if it is just three dollars i would be gratful. Give Obama time, it's hard to clean up a eight year mess. We all have families to feed, buy clothes for and house. I am 35 years old. I started working summer jobs when I was 15-16. In May 2000 I had a serious accident that crippled me. I do hope that someday I might be able to work again, but it doesn't look good. The stimulas check I got was a big help, but now SSI has stopped my dissability checks for unknown reasons. What is $300.00 going to do for me now. What does our government think we are supposed to live? love

I got a check last year of 522. this year I ended up owing. Does any one know if when you owe money do you still get the stimulas check? I could sure use it to pay what I owe.
I didnt qualify for last years tax refund nor will I qualify this year. I am a college student still claimed as a dependant on my parents taxes, they dont even get the child tax credit for me since I am over 18. So essentially, as a college student with a large amount in student loans, I apparently am not in need enough to deserve a stimulus check, or that my parents even get any compensation for me.

Instead of bailing out all of Wall Street, while they still continue to live high on the hog and obtain bonuses which we may never see in 20 years, why can't that money be split into each household and let the Americans save their homes, raise their children, put food on the table, clothes on their back, send them to college. The thing to remember is that those on Unemployment probably will only get $300 instead of the $600 or $500

I didn't qualify last year because my income was to low and I am a single mother of two. I was a server that made $2.15 an hour and made under $3000 for 2007. This year I made more and I actually recieve the rebate from last year on this years tax rebate. I am very thankful.
If you had a child last year, there's a line on your IRS tax form you need to watch out for. It could mean $300 in savings on your tax bill. Ditto if Uncle Sam neglected to send you an economic stimulus check last year. Or, God forbid, figured it wrong.
